Is Hela making her return in the MCU? Marvel Studios reportedly wants Cate Blanchett to reprise her iconic role in an upcoming project.
When Cate Blanchett first appeared as Hela in the MCU, fans saw her as an above-average villain for the franchise. They enjoyed her while she was there, but there hasn’t exactly been outcry for the character coming back. That is, until the release of Marvel Rivals. While Hela isn’t exactly the most beloved character in the shooter, it has ignited some discussion about if the character deserves to make her grand return on the silver screen.
And it seems Marvel Studios has the same idea. The latest rumor rundown by Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus remarks that the studio wants Cate Blanchett to reprise her role as Hela in a future MCU project. While it seems Perez doesn’t know where the character will return, it likely won’t be for the Avengers movies that serve to cap off the Multiverse Saga.
Will Cate Blanchett Return As Hela In The MCU?
The most obvious place for Cate Blanchett to make her return is a Thor sequel. It has long been speculated that the God of Thunder is due for one more outing in the MCU before Chris Hemsworth retires. However, given Hela was established as thoroughly dead in Ragnarok, it may seem a bit cheesy for Marvel Studios to crime her in to the fifth installment.
However, there is a rumor that a Hercules project is in the works for the MCU. Given Marvel Studios has a penchant for mixing pantheons, it’s possible that the God of Strength makes his way down to the underworld, discovering Cate Blanchett’s Hela as a prisoner of Hades. It’s also possible that a solo project focused on the goddess’ early years is developed, giving new life to the character with a younger (and likely cheaper) actress.
