Hear the track, created with Brazilian artist Gabriel Oliveira, here first

Those in the know will know all about Detroit techno veteran John Beltran’s Sol Set project with Shane Donnelly, dedicated to Latin and Brazilian grooves rather than the sounds of the Motor City.
Sol Set has roots stretching back over 20 years – the collective’s debut was on the LTJ Bukem-compiled Earth Volume 4 back in 2000 – and has featured numerous supremely talented musicians, drawing influence from a number of eras, scenes and styles, with a particular affection for Brazilian funk and soul.

The ‘Love Revolution’ EP is the latest chapter in Sol Set’s journey, and featuring vocals from Taylor Taylor, trumpet from Walter White, input from South African house artist Earl Green and – on ‘Maragogi’ – Sao Paulo’s Gabriel Oliveira, contributing vocals, flute and bass.
Juno Daily readers can hear ‘Maragogi’ in full right now, ahead of its release on May 19.
“Inspired by the great Azymuth and Joao Donato,” says Beltran of the track, “writing this song was one of the great pleasures of my career. Of course collaborating with Brazilian artist Gabriel Oliveira is always a joy, but producing this particular sound was tops for me.”
