There is renewed hope in the air that Capcom will return to the Dino Crisis series after a new merchandise line was made available very early this morning. Survival horror fans have been enjoying Capcom’s remakes of the Resident Evil franchise for years. Still, they’ve also had their eyes on Capcom’s other beloved horror series for the remake treatment, and with this new quiet update, Capcom may be preparing for its return.
Announced and detailed on Game Watch (official text in Japanese and roughly translated to English by Google), a new line of Dino Crisis merch has been made available as part of an online lottery. The lottery began earlier today and will run through September 12, and costs ¥880 per play, or around $6 USD. There are sweatshirts, desk mats, key chains, and several more items available for the lottery winners.
Why Everyone Loves Dino Crisis
Resident Evil But With Dinosaurs
Ever since Capcom began its train of stellar Resident Evil remakes, fans have been patiently waiting and asking for a remake or new Dino Crisis entry. The first two games were well-received, with the second often being cited as the inspiration for several mechanics in Resident Evil 4, which would go on to widely be considered to be one of the best games of all time.
Dino Crisis’s clever combination of dinosaur terror, its scenario-choice mechanic, and classic RE combat has cemented it as a survival horror legend. Unfortunately, the series took a sharp sci-fi turn with Dino Crisis 3, and the series has been dormant ever since. Last year, Dino Crisis was one of the frontrunners of a Capcom survey that gauged fan interest in various series, giving hope that the series wasn’t completely dead.
Dino Crisis Deserves A Comeback
It’s A Great Time To Be A Horror Fan
Earlier this year, Capcom filed a new trademark for Dino Crisis, which has led many fans to want to believe the series could be returning. All the RE remakes were financial and critical successes, so an over-the-shoulder remake of Dino Crisis seems like easy money. There’s been little mention of Dino Crisis directly from Capcom, but this new merch line may indicate that something is brewing at Capcom.
However, with Resident Evil Requiem coming in February 2026, as well as two more rumored RE remakes, it could be a while before a Dino Crisis game materializes, if this merch and the previous trademark mean anything. 2025 has been a great year for horror fans, so it seems like the genre is back in full force, and maybe one day soon, Dino Crisis will stand beside Resident Evil and Silent Hill once again.
