The runtime for Wonder Man has officially been revealed! Marvel has revealed the episode count of the upcoming Disney Plus series with their new strategy for the platform.
Wonder Man sits at an odd place in Marvel’s catalogue. It and Ironheart are the last two shows that were developed under the “Event Television” strategy for Disney Plus, where audiences would be drawn to the platform with limited series offerings starring massive names. Yet even as the studio shifts away from shorter runtimes and higher budgets, these two shows are still waiting for their big marketing push.
And it seems Marvel has no plans on leaving them behind. Despite both Wonder Man and Ironheart being produced as a limited series, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the studio is taking a “wait and see” approach to their future. If the projects perform well, they could be renewed as a marquee series for Disney Plus. If they don’t, they’ll likely be relegated to a single season like many projects before them on the platform.
How Long Will Wonder Man Be?
That news doesn’t mean fans shouldn’t be excited for either series. In fact, in the same article some very interesting pieces of information were dropped. When it comes to Wonder Man, fans got both the episode count and the runtime for each on Disney Plus. According to the report, the series will consist of eight episodes, which one being about 30 minutes.
This means that Wonder Man will end up as one of the shortest shows on Disney Plus, with most Marvel projects pushing the 45 minute range. This could give the series an edge in getting renewed, as a shorter runtime with a similar episode count could give the studio bigger margins to work with. Though that obviously all depends on how VFX heavy the project ends up being.
Wonder Man will release on Disney Plus later this year. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Wonder Man and the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
